The Monferrato Rosso 'Pin' from La Spinetta is a postcard from Piedmont to express all the love for this land, a feeling that Giuseppe Rivetti, known as 'Pin', taught to his children Carlo, Bruno, and Giorgio. A blend of Nebbiolo and Barbera that undergo separate vinification. Fermentation takes place in French oak barrels, of which about 20% are new and the remaining are second-use, followed by aging for about 12 months. Final aging in bottle for about 9 months. The synergy between Barbera and Nebbiolo offers a bouquet of fruit, flowers, and spices. The balance between tannins and acidity makes this wine a perfect companion for food. Only 8,000 bottles produced per year.

THE COMPANY

La Spinetta is now one of the most important wineries in Piedmont, a true reference point for the production of Barolo and Barbaresco. It is a family-run production reality that began in 1977, when Giuseppe Rivetti, known as “Pin,” after getting married decided to move to the top of the hill of Castagnole Lanze, called La Spinetta. It was here that Giuseppe began to experiment with a traditional sweet wine from Piedmont, Moscato. Since then, many steps forward have been made, and the focus of production has been dedicated to the creation of red wines, with the birth of the first Barbareschi in the mid-1990s. From this moment, the rise of the La Spinetta winery has been continuous, so much so that the great successes led the ownership to expand beyond the borders of Piedmont, moving into Tuscany, where in 2001 they purchased 65 hectares between Pisa and Volterra. Today, La Spinetta is skillfully directed by Giorgio, Bruno, and Carlo Rivetti, representatives of a family that has made hard work the secret of its success.
La Spinetta spans about 100 hectares of vineyards, acquired over time with great care. The vineyards enjoy an excellent exposure, towards south, southeast, and southwest, and the vines all have an average age between 35 and 65 years, ideal for producing expressive and compact wines. The wines of La Spinetta are born exclusively from native grape varieties, which historically belong to the areas where they grow and develop. This is a decidedly prudent choice aimed at enhancing the territory, shunning the uniformity of flavors that too often goes in vogue. Nebbiolo primarily, Barbera, and Moscato are therefore the main grapes, cultivated with very low yields and with meticulous work, because only from careful daily care of the vineyard can great wines arise.
It is precisely great bottles that must be discussed when looking at the range produced each year by the La Spinetta winery, where red wines are the undisputed stars of a production that speaks and narrates the territory impeccably, bringing the oldest traditions of the Langhe to life with the most modern technologies. Obviously, one cannot help but fall in love with the various labels dedicated to Barbaresco and Barolo, wines that, in every variation, are able to amaze, always reaching absolute perfection.
