Supertuscan

Supertuscan, or Super tuscan, is how certain red wines produced in Tuscany are called, produced outside the traditions of the region, using other types of grapes, such as those of Taglio Bordolese (Cabernet and Merlot) together with or instead of the traditional Sangiovese. These wines are often aged in barriques (small oak barrels) for more or less long periods. In the 1980s the term Supertuscan was coined.
