It was in 1725 that the Irishman Thomas Barton settled in Bordeaux to start his company, which today is the oldest winery in the city still in business... His nephew Hugh collaborated with the Frenchman Daniel Guestier and in 1802 their partnership it became official. From the Chartrons area, in the center of Bordeaux, barrels and bottles were loaded aboard ships that sailed across the Garonne river to numerous countries, starting from Ireland, England, Holland and the United States and currently reaching over 130 countries.
