Maremma Toscana
The production area of the grapes suitable for the production of wines with controlled denomination of origin "Maremma toscana", includes the entire administrative territory of the province of Grosseto, one of the largest in Italy, bordered to the west, throughout the coastal strip, from the Tyrrhenian Sea, to the north by the boundaries with the province of Livorno, to the south by the Latium province of Viterbo and to the east by the borders with the provinces of Pisa and Siena. The vines suitable for the production of the wines of the DOC Maremma Toscana are those traditionally grown in the area, Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo, Canaiolo nero, Alicante, Trebbiano Toscano, Ansonica, Malvasia long white and Vermentino, flanked by allochthonous varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Chardonnay, Sauvignon and Viognier (and others, possibly present among complementary vines, such as Cabernet franc, Petit verdot, Montepulciano, Pinot white, Pinot gris, Grechetto, Verdello and Colorino).
