Marsala Vergine Riserva 2010 (750 ml.) - Florio

Marsala Vergine Riserva [VR3911] 2011 by Florio is produced only from Grillo grapes harvested when overripe on the vine, starting from mid-September. Rich in sugars, dressed in marine sensations, the grapes, through the use of the traditional press, create musts full of color, high dry extracts and extreme sapidity. Aged in a small oak barrel for 10 years, sinking its roots in the Cantina Garibaldi, 119 meters away from the sea, this Marsala Vergine is crunchy on the palate. The sea gives it its freshness, enriching it with salty scents accompanied by gentle notes of broom and Mediterranean yellow flowers. Meditation wine goes well with high quality raw materials. Try it with… Focaccia with butter and anchovies.

Founded in 1833 by Vincenzo Florio, the Cantine Florio of Marsala overlook the sea of western Sicily. Wrapped in the energy of the winds, made sapid by the sea, the Cellars welcome, beautiful and silent, the oak woods where the Marsala Florios refine in an apparently immobile movement. Hundreds of barrels, vats and caratelli, each with its own story, breathe the sea through the tuff floor, in the high naves where perfumes and architecture mix. In this wonderful place, where the Sicilian idea of beauty is distilled, the oenologist Tommaso Maggio, through the wise use of space, time and oxygen, creates Marsala in its many organoleptic forms.
