Cru Etna Rosso 'Contrada Feudo di Mezzo' by Cotarella is made from the rows of Nerello Mascalese that run from the volcanic ridges of bubbling Etna to the valley of the icy Alcantara river. The strong thermal excursion and the volcanic and alluvial soils allow to obtain a perfectly balanced Red between aromaticity and structure. Fresh and fragrant wine, capable of faithfully translating the characteristics of such a complex grape as Nerello: a long-lived wine with dense tannins, of great longevity.

To be included among those that are today the most important, even by extension, companies in the Etna area, that of Cottanera is a wine-making reality that was born as a hazelnut grove in the early 1960s, thanks to the work of the grandfather of the current owners, Francesco Cambria.
We are at an altitude of about seven hundred meters above sea level, in the Catania municipality of Castiglione di Sicilia, in a beautiful area on the northern side of the volcano, characterized by a territorial context particularly suited to agriculture, an ideal condition for conversion to a vineyard. started in the early 70s, and continued decisively in the 90s. It is in that period, in fact, that all the plots have seen a progressive modernization, with the entry of varieties including international ones, and it is also in that period that the company park has reached the current one hundred hectares, of which about 65 are currently planted with vineyards.
Among the rows, the autochthonous carricante, nerello mascalese and inzolia grapes grow alongside syrah, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and merlot grapes. Vines grown in full respect of nature, environment and ecosystem, produce valuable, pure, rich and concentrated fruits in all their organoleptic nuances. Bunches that in the cellar are interpreted in the sign of those that are the most ancient local traditions, enhancing and enhancing all that the territory and the season have created.
Those that are produced today by the Castiglione di Sicilia winery are wines with a strong modern character, at the same time as fascinating as they are elegant in revealing their unmistakable Sicilian soul.
