No other winery identifies itself with a vine like Braida con la barbera. The work that Giacomo Bologna has carried out in recent decades is unparalleled, and has paved the way for an entire generation of winemakers who, after him, have begun to work with conviction this previously little-appreciated variety. It can be said that it was Giacomo Bologna, with the “Bricco dell’Uccellone” and other wines that made the history of Italian enology, who upset what were the most common beliefs about barbera. Studying soils and exposures, waiting for its complete ripeness, working it at its best in the cellar, Giacomo Bologna was able to demonstrate the quality, finesse and above all the longevity that was possible to obtain by making wine from the Barbera grapes.
Today, the company represents the faithful image of Giacomo's philosophy, of his way of understanding life, the land, wine, and relationships with friends. The sons Raffaella and Giuseppe, both oenologists, constitute the third generation of the “Braida”, and are united by the dream and enthusiasm of making Barbera continue the conquest of nobility and quality begun by their father.
Counting on over sixty hectares of vineyards, the company sees its rows mainly arranged in the lands of Rocchetta Tanaro, to which over the years added to the plots of Castelnuovo Calcea, Costiglione d’Asti, Mango d’Alba and Trezzo Tinella. Grapes grown and harvested in areas highly suited to viticulture, are processed in the cellar with the help of the most modern and sophisticated enological technologies, always used in full respect of the most ancient traditions.
This is how the Braida family has been synonymous with Italian drinking in the world for years, thanks to labels that, in addition to the "Bricco dell'Uccellone", are expressed in names such as "Montebruna", "La Monella", "Il Baciale '" , “Bricco della Bigotta” and to follow all the others. Wines born under the sign of the recovery of Barbera, and today a symbol of the highest Piedmontese and Italian enological excellence.
