Faro by Le Casematte is one of the most interesting Sicilian wines. Blend of 4 native vines from eastern Sicily, aged in French oak barrels. It is born in the extreme tip of Sicily that extends towards Calabria, a land of ancient traditions that date back to the first Hellenic colonization of the 8th century BC. Produced in a small estate overlooking the strait that takes its name from three fortifications, which date back to the First and Second World War. Red with a sunny and Mediterranean profile, an elegant sip, seductive and exciting harmony accompanied by a refined freshness and a typical flavor. Floral aromas, aromas of small berries, spicy hints, woody and nuances of Mediterranean herbs. Deep, good structure, rich, dense fruit.

A very young winery, which has already managed to establish itself as one of the best in the Sicilian wine scene. Le Casematte, born in 2008 at the hands of Gianfranco Sabbatino, joined today by the player Andrea Barzagli, is a winery that is based, above all, on passion and determination. Climbing on a beautiful hill overlooking the Strait of Messina, the eight hectares of vineyards owned, to which are added at the moment two more for rent, are strictly conducted in the biological regime. Among the rows, the territorial identity is strong, so the varieties of vines present are the autochthonous ones, since ancient times in this area used to produce wine. In the cellar, the "hand-guide" is that of the famous oenologist Carlo Ferrini, who expertly manages to enhance the nerello mascalese and nerello cappuccio clusters, those of nocera and nero d'Avola, and those of carricante and cricket. Grapes in which the artificial intervention is reduced to a minimum, as also the use of small wood is limited. This is how labels are born, which are given over-emphasized the name of "Le Casematte": wines of scrupulous artisan care, remarkable in all respects, elegantly natural, and which, above all in no uncertain terms, are contributing to give a new luster to a DOC - that of Faro - which in the past years has even risked disappearing from the list of denominations.
