Santa Maddalena 'Antheos' by Waldgries is a multifaceted wine thanks to the various types of Schiava grapes used. In 2009, Christian planted a mixed cut of historic vines, thus giving new life to ancient vines dating back to the time of his great-grandparents. This exclusive wine is rich in history and tradition. The different grapes harvested are fermented together, which gives the wine strength and great expressiveness. Vinification in large wooden barrels. A special feature: 20% of the grapes are left to ferment together with their stalks to acquire strength and tannins. Hints of Mon Chérie cherries and ripe red berries, elegant aromatic notes. Full-bodied, with refined and persistent spicy notes, soft tannins that blend with the elegant fruity background. To be paired with Mediterranean appetizers, white meats and game.

The history of Waldgries, a reality embodied by the figure of Christian Plattner, begins way back in 1930, when Christian's grandfather buys the estate and starts exporting the wines he produces to Switzerland. His father then takes over the management of the winery, engaging in a pioneering bottling activity, a practice not yet widespread in the Santa Maddalena area. From these solid family foundations, it is now Christian who carries forward the name and fame of the winery, with foresight and winemaking talent but always looking back towards the roots that shaped him. Waldgries, for example, produces expressions of Lagrein and Schiava with a rich structure and body due, in addition to the impeccable work in the cellar, also to the nature of its soils, of glacial origin and rich in porphyry. Waldgries is certainly a point of reference for mountain viticulture, which owes its success to the talent of the winemaker who manages it, strong in his historic family roots.
