Chablis 1er Cru 'Les Fourneaux' 2020 (750 ml.) - Chateau de Fleys

Chablis 1er Cru 'Les Fourneaux' by Châteaux de Fleys is a pure Chardonnay that comes from 50-year-old vineyards located on the left bank of the Serein river, a large area dedicated to the production of this grape. Matures 12 months on stainless steel yeasts. The nose is intense, with hints of yellow berry fruit, floral and herbaceous notes with mineral notes. Elegant and structured on the palate, with hints of yellow berries (peaches and apples) and citrus fruits, floral notes of jasmine, and a marked minerality on the finish. Fine and balanced, with excellent flavor and freshness. Only 2,000 bottles produced per year.

The history of the Château de Fleys winery begins towards the end of the 19th century when Julien Philippon purchased some vines for the production of wine, land and wood with which he built the estate which has since been handed down from father to son. At that time, the headquarters of the winery was a hunting lodge belonging to the Lord of Pathenay (equerry of Louis XIV).

In 1988, the Château de Fleys castle and its 1 hectare "Clos" were purchased by André Philippon, the grandson of Julien Philippon. Today the Domaine is managed by the Philippon family.

The company is located in the city of Fleys, in the heart of the Chablis production area, 4.5 km east of the city of the same name, on the right bank of the Serein river. Today the estate covers a total of 20 hectares and is owned by the latest generation of the Philippon family made up of Beatrice, Benoit and Olivier.

An extremely important terroir, in 6 different parcels they express the character and identity of Chablis wines, of which 3 1er Cru parcels. Careful work in the vineyard, an excellent terroir for the individual parcels, a different vinification process to maintain and highlight the elegance and typical characters of the area, offer products of considerable interest.

The work in the vineyard and the winemaking are carried out with respect for nature. The cellar was rebuilt and renovated in 2006, heavy investments were made in equipment and technologies aimed at maximizing the quality of the wines.
