Alto Adige DOC Chardonnay 'Lafoa' 2023 (750 ml.) Colterenzio

Chardonnay from the prestigious 'Lafòa' line by Colterenzio is an intense and smooth white wine, a true excellence of the Alps. It comes from the grapes of the same name used in purity, grown in vineyards located at about 450–550 meters above sea level. Harvest and short cold maceration, fermentation in new and used barriques with batonage and partial malolactic fermentation, aging for 10 months in new and used barriques. Bouquet of intense and refined aromas of citrus peel, mountain flowers, alpine butter and dried fruit. On the palate it is soft, creamy and buttery, rich, full and characterized by a driving freshness. Perfect in combination with fish dishes, shellfish, white meats.

Colterenzio_870x360.jpg

The wines from the hamlet of Colterenzio were favourites of Archduke Sigismund when he resided at Firmiano Castle in the 15th century, though the area was producing fine wines much earlier. Around 15 b.C. a Roman country gentleman named Cornelius settled here and established his "Cornelianum" wine estate and the first wine culture in the area. The Roman name eventually evolved into "Cornaiano", the village Colterenzio calls home. The Colterenzio winegrowers' co-operative was founded by 28 vintners in 1960. Over the years other passionate viticulturalists from diversified micro-zones in the area joined the collective, and today nearly 300 members cultivate approximately 300 hectares of vineyards.
